As the winter thaw gives way to the budding blooms of spring, homeowners of new construction properties face a unique set of maintenance tasks. Ensuring your home transitions smoothly into the warmer months not only preserves its beauty and functionality but can also preempt costly repairs down the line. Here we delve into essential spring maintenance tips tailored for your new construction home. First and foremost, it's crucial to conduct a thorough exterior inspection. The chill of winter can be harsh on a home's façade, potentially leading to issues that could compromise the integrity of your property. Look for signs of wear and tear on the roof, such as missing or damaged shingles, which could lead to leaks during spring showers. Examine the siding for cracks or gaps, and ensure that the foundation is free of any signs of settling or cracks. These checks are especially important for newly built homes, as they may settle significantly during the first year.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is just around the corner, and it's time to start thinking about how you're going to decorate your home for the holidays. Here are some tips to help you create a festive and cozy atmosphere in your home: Start with a color scheme: Before you start buying decorations, decide on a color scheme for your home. Red, green, gold, and silver are traditional Christmas colors, but you can also choose something more unique like blue and white or pink and gold. Once you have a color scheme, it will be easier to choose decorations that will all work together. Add some greenery: Nothing says Christmas like a beautiful evergreen wreath or garland. You can also add some potted poinsettias or a small Christmas tree to bring some life into your home. Use candles: Candles are a great way to add some warmth and coziness to your home. Choose scents like cinnamon or peppermint for an extra festive touch. Don't forget the lights: Christmas lights are a must-have for any holiday home. You can string them around your tree, drape them over your mantel, or even use them to create a cozy atmosphere in your bedroom. Add some personal touches: Finally, don't forget to add some personal touches to your holiday decor. Hang up your favorite family photos or display your children's homemade ornaments. These personal touches will make your home feel extra special and festive. With these tips, you'll be able to create a beautiful and cozy holiday home that will impress all of your guests. We have put together a decorating guide below to help your holiday decorating dreams come to life! We hope your home is filled with nothing but joy this Christmas season. Happy decorating!

Let's talk drop zones! Drop zones are becoming increasingly popular in new construction homes, and for good reason. A drop zone is a designated area near the entrance of a home where you can drop off your daily essentials such as keys, bags, and shoes. This area can be an open space or a built-in cubby with hooks and shelves, as seen in the picture below.

The bathroom is the first place to greet you in the morning and the last to tell you goodnight. It is the room with the mirror that has witnessed your celebratory dances, your tears, your motivational morning speeches. Maybe yours has notes stuck to the mirror, reminding you that, “You’ve got this!” or beholds the memories of getting ready for your first day at your dream job or your first date. Bathrooms don’t have to be boring. A bathroom can be personal, empowering, and an essential ingredient of your confidence. At Hemme Construction Custom Homes, we design spaces to be just that, and bathrooms are no exception. So, go ahead and pamper yourself by capturing how you want to feel each morning through spaces like these!

Who says you need color to be cute? We recently finished up this dark and moody custom home! What seems to make this house a home is the high contrast that comes in small doses - the dark stone on the exterior, the glossy black fixtures, and the moody fireplace that welcomes anyone in. All of these little details don't make you miss the color throughout this home!

At Hemme Construction, we're different. Yes, we build beautiful homes of the utmost quality, but we are so much more than our product. We not only have a team here at Hemme, but a family! This past August, we had the privilege of taking on Averi Kroenke, a high school student at Rockbridge, as an intern for the semester. Averi chose Hemme Construction, "because I live in a Hemme Home, along with one of their subdivisions, Creek's Edge. I have loved all of the different homes that they have built, and I had an interest in architecture & home design; I wanted to see what their process was!"
