Drop It Like It's Hot

Let's talk drop zones! Drop zones are becoming increasingly popular in new construction homes, and for good reason. A drop zone is a designated area near the entrance of a home where you can drop off your daily essentials such as keys, bags, and shoes. This area can be an open space or a built-in cubby with hooks and shelves, as seen in the picture below.

One of the main benefits of having a drop zone is that it helps keep your home organized and tidy. Instead of cluttering up your entryway with shoes and bags, you can keep everything in one spot. This also makes it easier to find your keys or wallet when you're rushing out the door for your kids' practice, or that event you've had on the calendar for months.

Another advantage of drop zones is that they can be customized to fit your family's needs. If you have children, you can add hooks and shelves at a lower height so they can reach their belongings. You can also include a charging station for your electronic devices or a bulletin board to keep track of appointments and reminders.

Overall, drop zones are a practical and stylish addition to any new construction home. They can help streamline your daily routine and keep your home looking neat and organized.

As the winter thaw gives way to the budding blooms of spring, homeowners of new construction properties face a unique set of maintenance tasks. Ensuring your home transitions smoothly into the warmer months not only preserves its beauty and functionality but can also preempt costly repairs down the line. Here we delve into essential spring maintenance tips tailored for your new construction home. First and foremost, it's crucial to conduct a thorough exterior inspection. The chill of winter can be harsh on a home's façade, potentially leading to issues that could compromise the integrity of your property. Look for signs of wear and tear on the roof, such as missing or damaged shingles, which could lead to leaks during spring showers. Examine the siding for cracks or gaps, and ensure that the foundation is free of any signs of settling or cracks. These checks are especially important for newly built homes, as they may settle significantly during the first year.
